It all started when…

the Sheriff in Valle Skipsreie build his house on the farm Ouverdal in the late 16th century. According to law, he was obliged to brew beer for his workers.

Now, more than 400 years later, his descendants are still brewing the same beer according to same tradition and recipe and with the same yeast.

Todays owner and brewer, Sigurd Johan Saure, grew up with this brewing tradition and is a keen craft brewer himself. Although todays brewing is dominated by more modern styles, he still keeps the traditions alive, brewing the old raw-ale that his ancestors has done for centuries before him
